Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Before I give you an update on your C.O.P.E. Committee I need to emphasize something that I have been pushing since I became your C.O.P.E. Leader. IF YOU HAVE ANY THOUGHTS OF RUNNING FOR A POLITI-CAL POSITION, WHETHER IT’S THE SCHOOL BOARD, FIRE COMMISSIONER OR TOWN COUNCIL, PLEASE CONTACT ME SO WE CAN HELP YOU!
You and other members contribute to the C.O.P.E. fund to help stabi- lize and grow our position in the political theater. I’ve always believed the only way to guarantee the future of our union is to get our own members elected into these positions.
As far as the C.O.P.E. update, we helped Tom Suozzi win the 3rd District Congressional seat. We were invit- ed to Congressman Suozzi’s swearing in ceremony at Glen Cove Town Hall and in Washington DC. While sitting in the Glen Cove Town Hall, I realized that Local 25 was the only local there. At the end of the ceremony, I found out that we were the only ones invited. It turns out that our local has always stood by his side and always showed the most support. This will definitely help our union with jobs that need a little push to get started and laws that need to be strengthened and rewritten to support the working class.
When we call you asking for your help, don’t be shy, come on down and make a difference. If you want to pro- actively stay involved, just send me your email address.
Your Brother in Solidarity
