I begin my article for this edition of the Conduit with heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers that helped make this holiday season so special. The Christmas Committee, EWMC Committee, and Amber Light Society Women’s Committee, along with everyone else that volunteered did a great job. Thank you, from the entire membership of Local 25. As we start our march through 2022, I remind all the members of the need for involvement here at our hall. There are many committees and situations that require volunteers.

This year will be a very important election year for all involved in labor, not to mention the “A” Construction, CW/CE and Residential Agreements will be up for renegotiation. Please attend a round table meeting to express your wants and needs for the new contract. Letters will be going out to notify everyone of the dates and times.

Finally, I would like to discuss the importance of buying goods “made in America.” Besides the individual jobs created by manufacturing in this country, we must consider the spin-off of jobs and the economic effect of removing people from unemployment. It’s easy to talk about spin-off jobs when it comes to construction. Building new plants or renovating existing plants means more construction work here in the good old USA. Certainly, we can all visualize how vibrant our local economy would be if some of the many vacant buildings were being occupied. Taking the time to look for and buy American-made is a very important way of investing in the future of America. When out shopping, please think of the bumper sticker “BUY AMERICAN...THE JOB YOU SAVE MAY BE YOUR OWN!”.

Enjoy the winter weather and work safely until we meet again
